Happy Independence Day.

Today I had to work. As an added bonus there was a parade going on. Needless to say there was a lot of congestion, and I pretty much filled my quota for social interaction for the week.

Just kidding.
(Not really?)

While my brother and his wife are out of town for a convention, I am dog/cat sitting for the weekend. So that seems to be keeping me busy also. Oscar, the innocent looking runt on the right, bolted when I took him off of his leash. I chased the blasted dog around the yard for a while until he finally got tired.

Fireworks are part of my schedule for the night, but I think I need to take some caffeine supplements to get through the rest of the day.

I’m Batman!

I am watching my nephew Zach for the day and we got bored and decided to start drawing. I was flipping through a magazine trying to decide what to draw, and Zach asked me to draw Batman.

Your mission..

I have been playing with my little GPS lately and I absolutely adore it. I’m just starting out so I can’t exactly maneuver it as well as I want, but it is fun to explore. My mission before I leave the state is to hit as many geocaches as possible. Ready! Set! Go!

When I installed OS X on my new HDD, decided it was time to try QuickSilver. QuickSilver is a fun utility to access any part of your computer with as little as four key-strokes. We’re talking bookmarks in your web browser, your documents folder, applications, and even pictures. This is quite possibly the most efficient way I have ever used my computer.

Speaking of efficiency, a month or so ago I decided that I would not use a purse anymore. All I truly needed was my money clip, keys, and phone. After realizing that I don’t wear cargo pants, therefore I don’t have any place to stick these things, and coming to the conclusion that I never want to wear cargo pants.. I decided it was time to try out a purse again. (I also noticed that I was bringing my laptop bag to a lot of places, even without my laptop in it..) I’m only flesh and blood, and as it just so happens that flesh and blood makes up the anatomy of a female! So I need a blasted purse.

But hey! At least I can carry my GPS everywhere with me now!

Speechless.

I actually had something in mind for this update on the life of Melissa Voegeli, but I found it boring and irrelevant. Then I sat at an empty page for a few minutes, then managed to get something out there.

When did blogging become so strikingly similar to programming?

One Big Freakin’ Update

I have no idea where to begin. Ah, yes. I got my hair chopped off this past week. By chopped off, I mean a full 10 inches.

Pretty different, but I think I needed a change. I also played around with my webcam and took some interesting pictures. Speaking of changes, I decided to take on a full load of new hobbies: skating, playing trumpet, playing more video games, reading more books, and sketching.

Yeah, I need more work. It has been literally years since I have even purchased a sketch pad.

So, on to more important things! I am moving. I am moving in about 30 days to KS and will be going to school for Computer Science. I will be living with my father whom has promised to pay for my school as long as I am a good student. I just registered for my classes, and I still need to work on other stuff before I leave.

The Home Version of the Game!

1. Pack.
2. Get car checked out.
3. Change phone number.
4. Switch banks.
5. Get a job.
6. Get KS driver’s license.
7. Car insurance.
8. Actually move. (Late July. Holy crap! That is next month.)

Excuse me while I abscond.

Recent update on life:

1. Went skating with my brother and some friends on Sunday. I fell a lot and I have a scraped up elbow. However, I just learned how to skate on only two wheels! Next, I’m going to learn how to do this:

2. I got my trumpet back from getting repaired and cleaned.

I tried to play an old solo I had from back in high school, and I managed to get through it all. Tonight I am printing off some standard warm-ups.

3. Working a lot. I also lost my keys today.

Fresh Install.

Have you heard? My HDD failed on my a few weeks ago. Tried to recover it with a friend but everything failed, and I had to get a new one. I initially wanted a small/standard amount of space for my next one, but I ended up finding a decently priced 160 gig Seagate off of Newegg. The hard drive finally arrived yesterday, and I had to wait until after 11pm (big mistake on my part, but I had to work all evening) to crack open my laptop and put it in. That was a big mistake because I didn’t exactly put it in right because the rubber sides kept moving and getting in the way, and I got it stuck.

After a good nights sleep I decided to bother my friend with more incompetence issues, and finally we managed to get the blasted thing out in one piece. After a break with Chinese food, and a nap on my part, my friend managed to get the HDD in correctly while I dozed off from the tedium.

So basically my laptop is in near working order again. w00t.

Resurrected hobbies.

I decided to take up a few new hobbies this summer. The interesting part of this feat, is the fact that I used to participate in these hobbies on a regular basis in the past. I kind of grew out of them or lost interest over the years, but recently I decided to take them up again.

1. Inline skating

Today was the first day I went inline skating since 6th grade. I was on a mission to go visit a friend and lend her some DVDs. Suffice it to say, it was a very interesting time. I wiped out once which resulted in a bloody palm, a sore butt, and a rip in my jeans. Other than that, a fun time was had by me.

2. Geocaching.

I used to do this in high school. I was interested at the beginning, but tapered off from the ambition. I think it was because of the person I went geocaching with back in the day was a little greedy. Anyway, I am looking for a sufficient GPS to start out with for the summer.

In other news, I played frisbee golf the other day. I started out pretty well, but I think I hit my peak around the 5th-hole and started tossing pretty arbitrary throws all over. The park did make me remember how much I like being out in the midst of mother nature. However, next time bring bug spray.

My cup runneth over.
